Assistant Preparator

The Clark Art Institute seeks a detail-oriented, full-time Assistant Preparator. Under the direction of the Chief Preparator, the Assistant Preparator handles, installs, frames, crates, and transports art and other objects. When not working on installations, deinstallations, packing, and other critical departmental work, the focus of this positon is to mat and frame works on paper on an as-needed basis. The Assistant Preparator must maintain the highest quality of care for objects in storage, exhibition area, transport, and loans.
 
The successful candidate must have some previous experience as an art handler, have the ability to stand for long periods of time, climb and work from ladders, lifts, and scaffolding, and lift heavy objects (packing cases and art objects). Some studio art education is helpful. The ability to maintain confidentiality is critical.
