Collections Management and Access Assistant

The Clark Art Institute is seeking a Library Assistant. The position is full-time and includes benefits. The Clark is one of the foremost art research libraries in the United States and serves a varied clientele that includes graduate students in the Clark/Williams Graduate Program in the History of Art, Williams College undergraduates, visiting scholars in the Clark’s Research and Academic Program, Clark museum staff, and members of the public. Supporting both Collections Management and Collections Access, the Collections Management and Access Assistant plays a key role in helping to meet researchers’ needs and keep a world-class research library running smoothly.
 
The Collections Management and Access Assistant performs various tasks related to stack maintenance, circulation, document delivery and interlibrary loan, reference support, library usage statistics, bindery processing, and book/serials processing.
 
Job requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree required; previous library experience highly desirable
- Ability to work efficiently but with meticulous and accurate attention to detail 
- Excellent communication skills and proven customer service and people skills
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively
- Familiarity with tasks across a variety of library functions, including interlibrary loan, circulation, reference, and book processing  
- Basic computer literacy required, with proficiency in Windows 10, MS Office, and library automated systems

In addition, strength and agility is required for this position as successful candidates will need the ability to lift heavy books to shelve overhead as well as crouch down to shelve at floor level. 

We anticipate a September 1, 2017 start date.
