Clark Art Institute Honors 41 Volunteers

The Sterling & Francine Clark Art Institute recognized 41 volunteers at a thank-you tea yesterday. Volunteers who have served the Institute at the information desk, as auditorium ushers, and in the membership department were honored. The group donated a combined total of more than 1800 hours of their time and work over the past twelve months.
Clark Director Michael Conforti presented certificates for 10 or more years of service at the information desk to: Franz Burnet-Gocht, Mary Flynt, Polly Hamilton, Nancy Hart, Barbara Hyman, Barbara Lesser, Elizabeth Patterson, Dorothy Rudolph, Amely Smith, Lucy Stanton, and Margery Safford of Williamstown; Marjorie Hurley of Pownal, VT; and Therese Trahan of Hoosac, NY.
Receiving certificates for five or more years of service were: Janice Adkins, Gail Colpoys, Rita Feldman, Mary Wales Fisher, Warren Hyman, Ruth Richardson, and Helen Vallencourt of Williamstown; Jill Hespos of Readsboro, VT; and Priscilla Salem of Bennington, VT.
Also thanked for their recent service were: Nan Alberti, Robert Bach, Moira Buoni, Sally Cramer, Ann Foster, Blanche Hardin, Jeanne MacWilliams, Susan Smith, Angela Rifkin, Lydia Soifer, Jid Sprague, and Joan Wright of Williamstown; Nancy Kennedy of Adams; Ariel Voepel of Manchester, VT; and Doris Hartheimer of Lanesboro.
Elizabeth Patterson, Helen Vallencourt, and Gisela Lehovec of Williamstown were also recognized for their volunteering as concert ushers.
Elda Gazzaniga of North Adams received an award in recognition of her 26 years of volunteer service in the membership department at the Clark.
Volunteers at the Clark Art Institute provide important services to the Clark and to its many visitors. The Clark information desk is staffed daily year-round by volunteers who answer questions, provide directions, assist with recorded tours, and offer other services. In addition to the volunteers recognized yesterday, the Clark has a corps of docents (volunteer tour guides) who provide gallery talks for schoolchildren and adult groups.
