Glam it Up at Clark After Dark: Red Carpet Night on February 23
For Immediate Release
February 15, 2007
The winner for the hottest series in the Berkshires this winter is…Clark After Dark. And in true Hollywood award glam style, the next hip Clark After Dark happening is Red Carpet Night on Friday, February 23 when the Clark is transformed by the glitz of Tinsel Town. This funky series, taking guests far from the New England winter, is held on the last Fridays of January, February, and March, from 8 pm to midnight, and includes music provided by DJ Peter Hallisey of Sound Choice in Boston, late-night encounters with art, light fare, a cash bar, and out-of-the-ordinary activities. Tickets are $10 ($8 for members) per evening, available at the door.
Indulge your movie fantasy by masquerading as your favorite celebrity, or don your most fabulous red carpet attire. Either way, be prepared for the paparazzi when you glide across the red carpet and enter the Clark transformed by the glamour and glitter of Hollywood.
And what would a night in Hollywood be without awards? Gold statuettes (and swag bags filled with goodies) will be awarded in the categories of: Best Karaoke Performance of an Academy Award-winning song (male and female), as well as Best Celebrity Look Alike (male and female), and God and Goddess of Glam (for best award-night togs, male and female). Movie buffs can cast their ballots for this year’s Academy Award winners and enter to win a year’s membership to Images Cinema. Sign up early for karaoke as the number of entrants will be limited.
Need to add some bling to your evening’s attire? Fashion your own over the top jewelry to top off your look. Wearing bling not your thing? How about decorative wine glass charms? Decidedly more low-key but extremely useful when keeping tabs on your drink of choice.
The evening is complete with free hors d’oeuvres based on this year’s Best Picture nominees and a cash bar will feature signature drinks by Jae’s at the Clark. Each nominee will inspire a table of creative hors d’oeuvres. The "Red Carpet" cash bar and espresso bar will serve champagne and Oscar cocktails.
Every half hour from 8:30 to 11 pm, exclusive tours of the Clark’s print room will reveal seldom seen works from the Clark's permanent collection based on the theme of "All the World's a Stage." Pick up tour tickets at the entrance desk while they’re available. And don’t forget to plan a late-night rendezvous in the Clark’s permanent collection, open until midnight.
Clark After Dark festivities conclude on March 30 with “South Seas Spring Fling.” The series is sponsored by Jae's Inn and Restaurant in Williamstown and Jae's Inn and Spa in North Adams.
The Clark is located at 225 South Street in Williamstown, MA. The galleries are open Tuesday through Sunday, 10 am to 5 pm (daily in July and August). Admission is free November through May. Admission June 1 through October 31 is $12.50 for adults, free for children 18 and under, members, and students with valid ID. For more information, call 413-458-2303 or visit www.clarkart.edu.
