Families

The Clark welcomes families to enjoy our galleries and our beautiful campus. The domestic scale of the galleries and the works makes coming here a very comfortable experience. If you would like some suggestions that might help you and your family make the most of your trip, ask at the Information Desk for our "Looking Carefully" cards, which have been specially designed to encourage children to look at paintings carefully and think about what they see. You may also enjoy exploring the Clark Remix gallery, which features tablet and screen technologies that help spark curiosity about the art. If you are in a creative mood, pick up a drawing pad at the Information Desk and spend some time sketching in the galleries together.

Be sure to plan some extra time for hiking on our well maintained trails or finding points of interest on our park-like campus with some of our GPS units, available free of charge at the Information Desk. You might also introduce your children to our Kids Activities page, where you will find a number of interactive activities that might whet their appetite for a visit.

Three times a year, the Clark puts on special family days, in celebration of a special exhibition or part of our permanent collection. These include a variety of activities – gallery talks, art making, and related entertainment – both inside and out. For younger children, we offer the Start with Art preschool program on the second Saturdays of the winter months. On the first Fridays of November – March, we host the popular New Parents Gallery Talks, an informal gallery talk for new parents with their young babies.
