Debra Bricker Balken was curator of Arthur Dove: A Retrospective, a highlight of the 1998-1999 exhibition season. She has written widely on modern and contemporary art and artists, their theory and criticism. At the Clark, Balken wrote the first chapter of her critical biography of the American art critic Harold Rosenberg.
