"Conserving a Legacy: Charles White and the Art Collections of Historically Black Universities"

This half-day symposium on November 11, 1998, featured talks related to the exhibition Charles White: “Progress of the American Negro” (1939-40). Speakers were Jock Reynolds, director of the Yale University Gallery of Art; Tritobia Benjamin, director of the Howard University Gallery of Art; and Edmund Barry Gaither, director and curator of the museum of the National Center of Afro-American Artists.
