"Recasting Degas’s Little Dancer"

This half-day symposium on August 1, 1998, featured five short talks on aspects of Degas’s Little Dancer Aged Fourteen, examining the sculpture in its social, artistic, and historical contexts. Richard R. Brettell, an authority on late-nineteenth-century French art, moderated. Speakers included Jill DeVonyar-Zansky, independent scholar; Anne Pingeot, Musée d’Orsay, Paris; George T. M. Shackelford, Museum of Fine Arts, Boston; Douglas Druick, Art Institute of Chicago; and Kathleen Adler, The National Gallery, London.
