The Sweetback Sisters
Tuesday, July 12, 2011
Bring your family and friends, a picnic basket, and a blanket to the Clark for this free outdoor concert by the rollicking Brooklyn honky-tonk band, the Sweetback Sisters.
Barbecue fare will be available for purchase and the galleries will remain open until 6:00 pm. In the event of rain, the concert will be held in the auditorium.
The Sweetback Sisters' charismatic charm and signature matching dresses evoke the golden era of the cowgirl. Their repertoire combines the sisters’ passion for classic country music and new interpretations of the country music traditions to create a fresh take on what it means to be country.
"If you think the concepts of hipster Brooklynites and the classic country music are mutually exclusive, allow us to introduce you to this swinging sextet," says The Boston Globe. "Fronted by the closely harmonizing duo of Zara Bode and Emily Miller, the zingy group is simultaneously reverent of tradition and contemporaneously cheeky.” To learn more about the Sweetback Sisters and listen to their music, check out their Facebook page.
The summer band concert series is sponsored by Williamstown Savings Bank.
