Concertante Chamber Players
Tuesday, August 6, 2013
Concertante Chamber Players, a string sextet committed to providing a wide breadth of chamber music to diverse audiences around the world, will present a program to include the Elgar Serenade in E minor, Opus 20; the Dvorak Sextet in A Major, Opus 48; and the magnificent Brahms Sextet in G Major, Opus 36. Tickets are $25 ($20 members, $10 students). To order tickets, click here or call 413 458 0524.
As innovators, the members of Concertante pursue commissions, such as the “One Plus Five” project, which resulted in six new works by contemporary composers. The two violinists, two violists, and two cellists who form the core of Concertante are superb string players, praised by the New York Times for their “richly blended sound” and “beautifully focused” playing. Because of the fewer works in the string sextet genre, it is a rare occasion to hear these pieces performed live.
Prior to the concert, enjoy a delicious three-course fixed-price dinner at 6 pm in the Clark Café. There will be several choices of appetizer or soup, entrée, and dessert. $29 per person (does not include beverage, tax, or gratuity). Reservations are required; call 413 458 0524 to reserve.
This program is made possible in part by the Massachusetts Cultural Council and the Cultural Council of Northern Berkshire.
