It's time to stretch your limbs and let your creativity flow as we celebrate dance and movement in connection with Edgar Degas: Multi-Media Artist in the Age of Impressionism. Sculpt your own mixed-media dancer, drawing inspiration from Degas’s Little Dancer. Composed of an unconventional combination of materials, this sculpture shocked audiences when it was first exhibited in 1881. Then, experiment with the ways a line can dance on the page as part of a collaborative, large-scale drawing activity. Through improvised movement and dance workshops, community-based artist Tom Truss invites us to engage with select artworks at the Clark in the permanent collection galleries at 1:30 pm and 3 pm. This fun experience is open to all ages and movement experience levels! Capacity is limited, so register in advance to secure your spot!
Don’t forget to check out the Print Room Pop-Up in the Manton Study Center for Works on Paper from 11 am–1 pm to see a selection of works that center on ballet, performance, and dance.
Free. Advance registration required for the movement workshops with Tom Truss. Capacity is limited. Register for the 1:30 pm workshop or the 3 pm workshop.
Family programs are generously supported by Allen & Company.
