Wanda Corn is the Robert and Ruth Halperin Professor Emerita in Art History at Stanford University. A scholar of late-nineteenth- and early- twentieth-century American art and photography, she is an active curator and author of numerous volumes and essays, including her study of avant-garde modernist culture along the Atlantic rim, The Great American Thing: Modern Art and American Identity, 1915--35 (Berkeley, 1999). She has just completed her book Women Building History about Mary Cassatt and the decorative program of murals and sculptures for the Woman’s Building at the Chicago World’s Columbian Exposition of 1893. While at the Clark she will pursue her forthcoming exhibition and book: Seeing Gertrude Stein, Five Stories, scheduled for 2011.
