CLARK LIBRARY SET TO REOPEN

Williamstown, MA—The Sterling and Francine Clark Art Institute’s library, which temporarily suspended operations to accommodate installation of a new fire protection system, reopens Tuesday, September 3, just before the start of the 2013-14 academic year at Williams College.
Hours of operation are Monday through Friday, 9 am to 5 pm.
Spearheaded by head librarian Susan Roeper, the Clark’s library team coordinated the relocation of approximately 150,000 volumes—roughly one-and-a-half miles of books—in just two weeks.
“The project was well conceived, and every team performed as planned, from the move out to the move back in,” Roeper said. “Despite being on hiatus for the summer, the library was able to serve our museum staff and fellows. We look forward to welcoming back both the public and the Williams College graduate classes of 2014 and 2015.”
As soon as classes ended at Williams College in late May, National Library Relocations of Islandia, New York moved in, bringing a ten-person team to pack 3,312 boxes that were loaded into twelve 24-foot trucks and transported to a remote storage facility. Crews from Consigli Construction, the construction manager for the renovation of the Manton Research Center, are working on a fast-track schedule to complete the project within an ambitious seventy-day schedule.
