INCENDIO BRINGS LATIN FUSION TO THE CLARK

WILLIAMSTOWN, MA—The fusion trio Incendio performs a free outdoor concert at the Sterling and Francine Clark Art Institute on Tuesday, July 23 at 6 pm. Concertgoers can bring a picnic or purchase barbecued fare. In the event of rain, the concert will be held indoors.

Incendio is a genre-defying blend of musical traditions from all over the globe—Spanish flamenco, Celtic music, American jazz, and Peruvian folk all find a place in the trio’s intoxicating melodies. With their kinetic performance style and mastery of their instruments, the group takes the listener on a sonic journey grounded in the intense rhythms of flamenco guitar. Though all three members of the band use the guitar as the primary “voice” of the group, Incendio’s members also use a variety of other stringed instruments, including the mandolin and the bouzouki.

The trio was formed in 1999 by Jim Stubblefield, Jean-Pierre Durand, and Liza Carbé, who shared an interest in creating a new brand of world fusion music. Seven albums and one live DVD followed, and the group’s music has also been featured on a variety of television programs on The History Channel, A&E, and other national networks. Their eighth studio album, The Shape of Dreams, was recently released on their own label, Incendio Music.

About the Clark

Set amidst 140 acres in the Berkshires, the Clark is one of the few major art museums that also serves as a leading international center for research and scholarship.
