LEARN ABOUT ART IN THIRTY MINUTES AT THE CLARK

Williamstown, MA—Looking at Lunchtime, a popular program at the Sterling and Francine Clark Art Institute, continues on Thursday, October 10 at 12:30 pm. The half-hour talk will be held at Stone Hill Center on the Clark’s campus. Admission is free.

Michael Cassin, director of the Center for Education in the Visual Arts, discusses an oil painting by English artist Thomas Gainsborough titled Elizabeth and Thomas Linley, c. 1768. The painting, which depicts Elizabeth Linley and her younger brother Thomas, was acquired by the Clark in 1943.

“Elizabeth and Thomas Linley is a fascinating picture of two remarkable people,” said Cassin, who noted that the Linleys led lives of both privilege and tragedy.
