CLARK ART INSTITUTE CURATOR RICHARD KENDALL TO SPEAK AT ALBANY INSTITUTE OF HISTORY & ART
For Immediate Release
June 30, 2015
Williamstown, MA—Richard Kendall, curator of the Clark Art Institute’s exhibition Van Gogh and Nature, presents a free lecture at the Albany Institute of History & Art on Thursday, July 16 at 6 pm.
Kendall explores Vincent van Gogh’s preoccupation with the natural world, from the minutiae of insects to the majestic landscapes of rural Holland and the south of France. He also discusses Van Gogh’s passion for reading, which included nature guides, poetry, and hundreds of novels that celebrated rural life.
Shown exclusively at the Clark Art Institute through September 13, 2015, Van Gogh and Nature is the first exhibition devoted to the artist’s abiding exploration of nature in all its forms. Much of the artist’s adult life was devoted to drawing and painting the natural world, yet this fundamental aspect of his work has not previously been the focus of intense study.
The Albany Institute of History & Art is located at 125 Washington Avenue, Albany, New York.
