CLARK ART INSTITUTE HOLIDAY HOURS
Williamstown, Massachusetts—The Clark Art Institute has added special holiday hours to provide greater access for visitors. Although the Institute is closed on December 25 and January 1, the Clark will be open daily from Monday, December 26 through Saturday, December 31, from 10 am to 5 pm.
Visitors can view the Clark’s permanent collection, which The Boston Globe called “...one of the most celebrated collections of 19th-century French art in the world,” or explore the newly re-opened Manton Research Center and its galleries. Café Seven will be open for lunch and snacks, and the Clark’s Museum Store and bookstore will offer special post-holiday sales, including a book sale with all titles offered at a thirty percent discount. Special family-friendly activities will be offered from December 27-30, including art-making activities tied to its special exhibitions.
Special exhibitions on view:
Japanese Impressions: Color Woodblock Prints from the Rodbell Family Collection–Japanese Impressions is the first exhibition at the Clark to focus on the Institute’s permanent collection of Japanese prints. The exhibition spans more than a century of Japanese color woodblock printing as represented by three generations of artists who produced prints from the 1830s to the 1970s. The exhibition celebrates a generous 2014 gift to the Clark made by Adele Rodbell, and includes forty-eight prints from the Rodbell Family Collection, as well as works on loan from private collections and prints from the Clark’s permanent collection.
Photography and Discovery–When photographs were first widely produced and distributed during the second half of the nineteenth century, they offered viewers new ways to discover unknown people, places, and things. Photography and Discovery explores how photographers considered these subjects during the medium’s first seventy-five years. The exhibition—the first presented in the Eugene V. Thaw Gallery for Works on Paper in the newly renovated Manton Research Center—is the first extensive presentation of the Clark’s growing collection of nineteenth- and early twentieth-century photography.

The Clark Art Institute, located in the Berkshires of western Massachusetts, is one of a small number of institutions globally that is both an art museum and a center for research, critical discussion, and higher education in the visual arts.
