CLARK INTERIM DIRECTOR FRANCIS OAKLEY TO GIVE LECTURE
"In the Footsteps of Fra Angelico: Savonarola and the Florentine Millennial Dream"


Williamstown, MA–Francis Oakley, interim director of the Clark Art Institute, presents the free lecture "In the Footsteps of Fra Angelico: Savonarola and the Florentine Millennial Dream" on Wednesday, June 1 at 5:30 pm in the Michael Conforti Pavilion at the Clark.

Oakley addresses the dramatic rise and tragic fall of Girolamo Savonarola (1452–98) as a religious reformer and civic leader in Renaissance Florence, as well as the difficulties historians have encountered in trying to make sense of his life.

ABOUT THE CLARK
The Clark Art Institute, located in the Berkshires of western Massachusetts, is one of a small number of institutions globally that is both an art museum and a center for research, critical discussion, and higher education in the visual arts. Opened in 1955, the Clark houses exceptional European and American paintings and sculpture, extensive collections of master prints and drawings, English silver, and early photography. The Clark is located at 225 South Street in Williamstown, Massachusetts. Galleries are open Tuesday through Sunday, 10 am to 5 pm.
