CLARK ART INSTITUTE TO CELEBRATE MARTIN LUTHER KING JR. DAY WITH FREE SCREENING OF 'SELMA'

Williamstown, Massachusetts—In honor of Martin Luther King Jr. Day, the Clark presents a free screening of the film Selma on Monday, January 18 at 2 pm in the Michael Conforti Pavilion.

The film tells the true story of the tumultuous three-month period in 1965, when Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. led a dangerous campaign to secure equal voting rights in the face of violent opposition. The epic march from Selma to Montgomery culminated in President Lyndon B. Johnson signing the Voting Rights Act of 1965, one of the most significant victories for the civil rights movement.

Directed by Ava DuVernay and starring David Oyelowo, Selma was nominated for an Oscar for Best Picture. Rated PG-13; 128 mins.

The Clark’s galleries are open on Martin Luther King Jr. Day. Regular admission will be charged.

ABOUT THE CLARK

The Clark Art Institute, located in the Berkshires of western Massachusetts, is one of a small number of institutions globally that is both an art museum and a center for research, critical discussion, and higher education in the visual arts.
