CELEBRATE SUMMER SOLSTICE AT CLARK ART INSTITUTE

‘Body and the Beat’ Event Coincides with Summer Exhibition

Williamstown, Massachusetts—Celebrate the arrival of summer and the special exhibition Splendor, Myth, and Vision: Nudes from the Prado at the Clark Art Institute on Monday, June 20 at 6 pm. Special after-hours admission to the galleries from 6–9 pm ($10; members free) is accompanied by a lively array of solstice festivities on the Fernández Terrace from 6:30–8:30 pm.

Drop by creative yoga sessions and drumming circles, purchase refreshments and small plates from Café 7, and more for an evening that honors the body and its rhythms—in nature and in art. Open to all ages. In the event of rain, the summer solstice celebration will be held in the lower lobby of the Clark Center.

Splendor, Myth, and Vision: Nudes from the Prado, co-organized by the Clark and the Museo Nacional del Prado, Madrid, consists of twenty-eight Old Master paintings of the nude, twenty-four of which have never traveled to the United States. The exhibition examines the collecting of sixteenth- and seventeenth-century paintings of the nude at the Spanish court, reconsidering the significant role of the nude in European art. Splendor, Myth, and Vision is on view June 11–October 10, 2016.

ABOUT THE CLARK
The Clark Art Institute, located in the Berkshires of western Massachusetts, is one of a small number of institutions globally that is both an art museum and a center for research, critical discussion, and higher education in the visual arts.
