TEA CEREMONIES TO BE HELD DURING FREE SUNDAY AT CLARK ART INSTITUTE

Williamstown, Massachusetts—In celebration of the exhibition Japanese Impressions: Color Woodblock Prints from the Rodbell Family Collection, the Clark Art Institute will hold a special session of its First Sundays Free program on Sunday, January 8. (The Clark is closed on Sunday, January 1 in observance of New Year’s Day.) Admission to the galleries is free all day. Galleries are open 10 am–5 pm.
Special activities focusing on the importance of tea to Japanese identity and culture will be held from 1–4 pm. Visitors can mix a custom tea blend and decorate a teacup to enjoy at home. At 1:30, 2:30, and 3:30 pm, licensed instructors from the Urasenke Chanoyu Center in New York host tea ceremonies in the Michael Conforti Pavilion. Space for tea ceremonies is limited; reserve and pick up a ticket at the admissions desk on the day of the event.
First Sundays Free continues with free admission on the first Sunday of the month through May 7, 2017. This program is supported by funding from the officers and employees of Allen & Company, Inc.
ABOUT THE CLARK
The Clark Art Institute, located in the Berkshires of western Massachusetts, is one of a small number of institutions globally that is both an art museum and a center for research, critical discussion, and higher education in the visual arts.
