CLARK ART INSTITUTE HOSTS EXHIBITION BY PERSONS WITH DISABILITIES

Community Access to the Arts (CATA) exhibition opens July 1

Williamstown, Massachusetts—Community Access to the Arts (CATA) and the Clark Art Institute join forces to present an exhibition of artworks by participants in CATA’s programs, which focus attention on the ability within disability. The exhibition will be on view in the Clark’s Lunder Center at Stone Hill Saturday, July 1–Tuesday, August 22, 2017.

ABOUT CATA
CATA provides innovative arts workshops to people with disabilities in a wide range of genres—painting, drawing, dance, theater, singing, drumming, juggling, yoga, and creative writing—and then shares their artistic creations with the community through an annual performance and year-round art shows.

CATA is based on a few groundbreaking ideas: that the arts can transcend difference, that creativity can be embraced by all, and that tiny moments of connection can lead to tidal transformations. CATA has grown to more than 1,000 workshops annually, actively involving hundreds of individuals from across Berkshire County

ABOUT THE CLARK
The Clark Art Institute, located in the Berkshires of western Massachusetts, is one of a small number of institutions globally that is both an art museum and a center for research, critical discussion, and higher education in the visual arts. Opened in 1955, the Clark houses exceptional European and American paintings and sculpture, extensive collections of master prints and drawings, English silver, and early photography. Acting as convener through its Research and Academic Program, the Clark gathers an international community of scholars to participate in a lively program of conferences, colloquia, and workshops on topics of vital importance to the visual arts. The Clark library, consisting of more than 270,000 volumes, is one of the nation’s premier art history libraries. The Clark also houses and co-sponsors the Williams College Graduate Program in the History of Art.

The Clark is located at 225 South Street in Williamstown, Massachusetts. Galleries are open Tuesday through Sunday, 10 am to 5 pm; open daily in July and August.
