CLARK ART INSTITUTE PRESENTS DRAWING DAY FOR ALL AGES

Williamstown, Massachusetts—In conjunction with the special exhibition Looking North and South: European Prints and Drawings, 1500–1650, the Clark Art Institute invites people of all ages to attend North/South Drawing Day on Wednesday, April 19 from 1–4 pm. Pick up a complimentary sketchpad for drawing in the galleries, self portrait studio, or figure drawing workshop. Learn more about the art of drawing and enjoy works by some of the Renaissance’s most famous artists whose works are on view in Looking North and South.

Drawing activities are free. Complimentary gallery admission will be provided for an adult accompanying a child. Admission for children and members is always free.

Looking North and South explores the character of artistic exchange among artists working in sixteenth- and seventeenth-century Europe. The exhibition considers how artists responded to the works of their contemporaries, revealing intersections and divergences in artistic production, thought, and tradition. Included in the exhibition are works by Albrecht Dürer, Rembrandt von Rijn, Peter Paul Rubens, Giorgio Vasari, Pier Francesco Mola, and Guercino.

ABOUT THE CLARK

The Clark Art Institute, located in the Berkshires of western Massachusetts, is one of a small number of institutions globally that is both an art museum and a center for research, critical discussion, and higher education in the visual arts. Opened in 1955, the Clark houses exceptional European and American paintings and sculpture, extensive collections of master prints and drawings, English silver, and early photography. The Clark is located at 225 South Street in Williamstown, Massachusetts. Galleries are open Tuesday through Sunday, 10 am to 5 pm.
