CLARK ART INSTITUTE PRESENTS FREE ACOUSTIC CONCERT

Williamstown, Massachusetts—In the first of two free concerts in the Clark Art Institute’s “Crystal Clear” series, the acoustic duo Francesca Shanks performs Sunday, August 6 at 12:30 pm. The concert will be held outdoors at Thomas Schütte: Crystal, an architectural installation atop Stone Hill on the Clark’s campus.

Francesca Shanks and Joe Aidonidis, equal band partners, make what they call “a weird and beautiful wall of sound,” performing songs about nature, waiting, living, and time. Driven mainly by baritone ukulele, keyboards, and hard-hitting lyrics, the indie/alternative band has been compared to artists like Okkervil River, Wye Oak, Leonard Cohen, and John K. Samson. Their album Wolf Island was released by Sounds & Tones Records in 2015.

On Sunday, August 20 at 12;30 pm, the series concludes with a performance by folk and indie-rock band Darling Valley.

ABOUT THE CLARK
The Clark Art Institute, located in the Berkshires of western Massachusetts, is one of a small number of institutions globally that is both an art museum and a center for research, critical discussion, and higher education in the visual arts.
