CLARK ART INSTITUTE TO AIR METROPOLITAN OPERA’S “LA TRAVIATA” LIVE IN HD

Williamstown, Massachusetts—La Traviata, Giuseppe Verdi’s beloved operatic masterpiece, airs at the Clark Art Institute on Saturday, March 11 at 12:55 pm. The performance is broadcast live in HD from the Metropolitan Opera. Tickets are $25 ($22 members, $18 students) and may be purchased online at clarkart.edu or by calling 413 458 0524. Run time is 2 hours, 55 minutes.

In a classic story of true love, deception, remorse, and redemption, Sonya Yoncheva sings one of opera’s most familiar heroines, the tragic courtesan Violetta. Michael Fabiano sings her lover, Alfredo Germont, while Thomas Hampson is Alfredo’s father, Giorgio Germont. Nicola Luisotti conducts.

Now in its eleventh season, The Met: Live in HD is the Metropolitan Opera’s Peabody and Emmy Award-winning series of live performances transmitted to more than 2,000 movie theaters in seventy countries around the world. Live telecasts feature the full performance along with backstage interviews and commentary.


ABOUT THE CLARK

The Clark Art Institute, located in the Berkshires of western Massachusetts, is one of a small number of institutions globally that is both an art museum and a center for research, critical discussion, and higher education in the visual arts.
