CLARK ART INSTITUTE TO AIR FILM EXPLORING MICHELANGELO’S LIFE

Williamstown, MA—Exhibition on Screen presents the film Michelangelo: Love and Death at the Clark Art Institute on Saturday, June 24 at 3 pm. Tickets are $12 ($10 members) and can be purchased online at clarkart.edu or by calling 413 458 0524. The film will be shown in the Clark’s auditorium, located in the Manton Research Center.

Coinciding with a major new exhibition at the National Gallery, London, the film offers a fresh biography of Michelangelo who, with Leonardo da Vinci, is considered one of the greatest artists of the Renaissance—and perhaps of all time. Love and Death explores his relationship with his contemporaries and his immense artistic practice that included painting, sculpture, and architecture. Among the works examined are the statue of David in Florence, the Sistine Chapel in Rome, and the “Manchester Madonna” (today at the National Gallery, London).

Exhibition on Screen is the originator and pioneer of bringing exhibition-based art films to the cinema via secured access to galleries and exhibitions worldwide. Films are shown in more than 1,500 cinemas in about 50 countries, and more than one million seats have been sold.

ABOUT THE CLARK
The Clark Art Institute, located in the Berkshires of western Massachusetts, is one of a small number of institutions globally that is both an art museum and a center for research, critical discussion, and higher education in the visual arts.
