CLARK ART INSTITUTE CONTINUES FREE CONCERT SERIES WITH SAMANTHA FARRELL

Williamstown, Massachusetts—The Clark Art Institute’s free summer concert series continues on Tuesday, July 11 at 6:30 pm with Samantha Farrell. The concert takes place on the Clark Center lawn; in the event of rain, it will be held in the auditorium. Concertgoers are encouraged to bring blankets, chairs, and picnic meals; light refreshments will be available for purchase.

Called “probably the best female singer-songwriter you still haven’t heard of” (NBC Los Angeles), Farrell produces an ever-evolving sound that combines jazz, folk, pop, and poetry. Her latest album September Sun (2016) showcases her unique sound and songwriting, and her live concert performances mix originals, standards, and fresh takes on popular song covers.

ABOUT SAMANTHA FARRELL
Samantha Farrell picked up guitar as a sophomore at Bowdoin College and immediately started performing original material for enthusiastic audiences. Upon graduation in 2005, she moved to Los Angeles, where she released her first album, Spiritus. Three songs on the album were placed on national television shows. In 2008, she caught the ear of LeRoi Moore, the saxophonist of the Dave Matthews Band, who agreed to produce and develop her next album. After Moore passed away unexpectedly, Luminous was independently released in October 2009 and reached number seven on the iTunes pop charts. She has since followed that up with two EPs, In Between Stories (2010) and Softly Swooning World (2013). Her latest album, September Sun (2016), was voted as one of WUMB Boston radio’s top 10 albums of 2016.

ABOUT THE CLARK
The Clark Art Institute, located in the Berkshires of western Massachusetts, is one of a small number of institutions globally that is both an art museum and a center for research, critical discussion, and higher education in the visual arts. The Clark is located at 225 South Street in Williamstown, Massachusetts. Galleries are open Tuesday through Sunday, 10 am to 5 pm.
