BRING YOUR VALENTINE TO THE CLARK FOR ‘A DAY OF LOVE’

Williamstown, Massachusetts—Museums are for lovers! Spend Valentine’s Day afternoon (Wednesday, February 14) at “A Day of Love” at the Clark Art Institute with your special someone and enjoy a few hours of great art and love-themed activities. Write a love letter to your favorite artwork or artist and share it on a message board in the Museum Pavilion; enjoy a special Valentine’s Day treat from Café 7; sit in on a rare book talk; and create an artistic valentine.

Activities are as follows:

1 pm – Art lovers’ letter-writing (Museum Pavilion)

2 pm – Rare book talk: “Who Wrote the Book of Love?” (Manton Study Center for Works on Paper)
Sometimes joyous, sometimes tragic, but always sublime, lovers and romance are a mainstay for publishers. Collection Development Librarian Terri Boccia shares love stories from six centuries, as highlighted in illustrated books from the Clark library’s special collections.

3–5 pm – Valentine making (Clark Center, lower lobby)

ABOUT THE CLARK

The Clark Art Institute, located in the Berkshires of western Massachusetts, is one of a small number of institutions globally that is both an art museum and a center for research, critical discussion, and higher education in the visual arts. Opened in 1955, the Clark houses exceptional European and American paintings and sculpture, extensive collections of master prints and drawings, English silver, and early photography. Acting as convener through its Research and Academic Program, the Clark gathers an international community of scholars to participate in a lively program of conferences, colloquia, and workshops on topics of vital importance to the visual arts. The Clark is located at 225 South Street in Williamstown, Massachusetts. Galleries are open Tuesday through Sunday, 10 am to 5 pm. Admission is $20; free year-round for Clark members, children 18 and younger, and students with valid ID.
