CLARK ART INSTITUTE ANNOUNCES FREE ACOUSTIC CONCERT SERIES

Williamstown, Massachusetts—The Clark Art Institute and local entertainment company Sounds + Tones present Crystal Clear, a series of open-air acoustic concerts on Sundays, August 12, August 19, and August 26 from 12–2 pm. The free concerts feature up-and-coming artists performing at the Clark’s outdoor installation, Thomas Schütte: Crystal, located atop Stone Hill on the Institute’s campus.

Kicking off the series on August 12 is FBGM, a genderless/genreless duo from Boston, Massachusetts. Through poignant songwriting, precise harmonies, and engrossing live performances, Matt Jatkola and D. Orxata invite listeners into their emotionally rich world.

On August 19, Hawthorn weaves melodic layers into harmonies pulled from traditional folk roots. Lead band members Heather Scott and Taylor Holland share their mutual love of the natural world, storytelling, and community to create music colored by both external and internal landscapes. They are joined by bassist Alex Gasser and an evolving community of Boston's finest instrumentalists to create magical blends of sound.

On August 26, House Sparrow members Francesca Olsen and Joe Aidonidis combine their talents to create “an exultant celebration of sound” (Redline Roots). The two-person band is driven by synthesizers, baritone ukulele, Francesca's soulful voice, and rumination on nature, waiting, and time.

Concertgoers are encouraged to pack a picnic or purchase one from Café 7, make the climb up Stone Hill, and enjoy a peaceful afternoon performance.

ABOUT THE CLARK

The Clark Art Institute, located in the Berkshires of western Massachusetts, is one of a small number of institutions globally that is both an art museum and a center for research, critical discussion, and higher education in the visual arts. Opened in 1955, the Clark houses exceptional European and American paintings and sculpture, extensive collections of master prints and drawings, English silver, and early photography. The Clark, which has a three-star rating in the Michelin Green Guide, is located at 225 South Street in Williamstown, Massachusetts. Galleries are open Tuesday through Sunday, 10 am to 5 pm; open daily in July and August. Admission is $20; free year-round for Clark members, children 18 and younger, and students with valid ID.
