CLARK ART INSTITUTE TO AIR FILM FEATURING THE WORKS OF BRITISH ARTIST DAVID HOCKNEY

Williamstown, Massachusetts—The Clark Art Institute airs Exhibition on Screen’s David Hockney at the Royal Academy of Arts on Sunday, February 25 at 3 pm in the auditorium. Widely considered Britain’s most popular living artist, David Hockney is a global sensation with exhibitions in London, New York, Paris, and beyond, attracting millions of visitors worldwide. An important contributor to the pop art movement of the 1960s, the eighty-year-old artist shows no evidence of slowing down or losing his trademark boldness.

Featuring intimate and in-depth interviews with the artist, this revealing film focuses on two blockbuster exhibitions held in at the Royal Academy of Art in London: David Hockney: A Bigger Picture in 2012 and David Hockney: 82 Portraits and 1 Still-life in 2016. Director Phil Grabsky secured privileged access to craft this cinematic celebration of a twenty-first century master of creativity.

ABOUT THE CLARK

The Clark Art Institute, located in the Berkshires of western Massachusetts, is one of a small number of institutions globally that is both an art museum and a center for research, critical discussion, and higher education in the visual arts. Opened in 1955, the Clark houses exceptional European and American paintings and sculpture, extensive collections of master prints and drawings, English silver, and early photography.
