Williamstown, Massachusetts—The Clark Art Institute airs an encore presentation of National Theatre Live’s The Madness of George III, a multi-award-winning drama recorded live from London’s Nottingham Playhouse, on Saturday, December 8 at 1 pm. Tickets are $18 ($16 Clark members). The broadcast will be shown in the Clark’s auditorium, located in the Manton Research Center. To reserve tickets, visit clarkart.edu or call the box office at 413 458 0524.
The cast of the “spell-binding tour de force” (Telegraph) includes Olivier Award winners Mark Gatiss (Sherlock, Wolf Hall, NT Live's Coriolanus) in the title role and Adrian Scarborough (Gavin and Stacey, Upstairs Downstairs, After the Dance) as Dr. Willis.
It’s 1786 and King George III is the most powerful man in the world. But his behavior is becoming increasingly erratic as he succumbs to fits of lunacy. With the King’s mind unraveling at a dramatic pace, ambitious politicians and the scheming Prince of Wales threaten to undermine the power of the Crown—and expose the fine line between a king and a man.
Run time is 3 hours, 30 minutes. All ticket sales are non-refundable.
