CLARK ART INSTITUTE TO AIR ‘THE MADNESS OF GEORGE III’

Williamstown, Massachusetts—The Clark Art Institute airs an encore presentation of National Theatre Live’s The Madness of George III, a multi-award-winning drama recorded live from London’s Nottingham Playhouse, on Saturday, December 8 at 1 pm. Tickets are $18 ($16 Clark members). The broadcast will be shown in the Clark’s auditorium, located in the Manton Research Center. The cast of the “spell-binding tour de force” (Telegraph) includes Olivier Award winners Mark Gatiss (Sherlock, Wolf Hall, NT Live's Coriolanus) in the title role and Adrian Scarborough (Gavin and Stacey, Upstairs Downstairs, After the Dance) as Dr. Willis.

It’s 1786 and King George III is the most powerful man in the world. But his behavior is becoming increasingly erratic as he succumbs to fits of lunacy. With the King’s mind unraveling at a dramatic pace, ambitious politicians and the scheming Prince of Wales threaten to undermine the power of the Crown—and expose the fine line between a king and a man.

ABOUT THE CLARK

The Clark Art Institute, located in the Berkshires of western Massachusetts, is one of a small number of institutions globally that is both an art museum and a center for research, critical discussion, and higher education in the visual arts.
