VIDEO ANIMATION CLASS OFFERED AT CLARK ART INSTITUTE

Williamstown, Massachusetts—The Clark Art Institute and IS183 Art School of the Berkshires present “Fine Art Video Animation,” a two-day class led by IS183 instructor Laleh Khorramian, on Saturday–Sunday, September 22–23 from 10 am–4 pm. The class will be held in the Clark’s Hunter Studio, located in the Lunder Center at Stone Hill.

The workshop immersion focuses on discovering animation as a fine arts form. After looking at the work of some experimental animators to gain a sense of the history and practice of this field, students explore basic animation principles and methods. Participants complete exercises with straight-ahead drawn animation and basic stop-motion using clay and objects. Once students have a sense of the process, they work with a basic free software program on laptops to build a short animation piece. The skills introduced are ideal for anyone curious about creating work—or transitioning existing work—to incorporate motion and sequence.

ABOUT THE CLARK

The Clark Art Institute, located in the Berkshires of western Massachusetts, is one of a small number of institutions globally that is both an art museum and a center for research, critical discussion, and higher education in the visual arts.
