CLARK ART INSTITUTE TO AIR EXHIBITION ON SCREEN’S ‘MATISSE’

Williamstown, Massachusetts—The Clark Art Institute presents Matisse, a film by Exhibition on Screen, on Saturday, April 21 at 3 pm. Tickets are $12 ($10 for Clark members) and may be purchased online at clarkart.edu or by calling the box office at 413 458 0524. The film will be shown in the Clark’s auditorium, located in the Manton Research Center. Run time is 1 hour, 25 minutes.

With exclusive footage from Tate Modern, London and The Museum of Modern Art, New York, Matisse celebrates the giant of modern art on the big screen. Audiences are invited to enjoy an intimate, behind-the-scenes documentary about this blockbuster exhibition, hailed as the most successful in Tate Modern’s history. The film includes expert contributions from those who knew Matisse as well as curators, historians, Tate Modern Director Nicholas Serota, and MoMA Director Glenn Lowry. Also featured are breathtaking, specially commissioned performances by Royal Ballet principal dancer Zenaida Yanowsky and jazz musician Courtney Pine. Acclaimed British actor Simon Russell Beale brings insight and emotion to the words of Henri Matisse himself, while actor Rupert Young narrates.

ABOUT THE CLARK

The Clark Art Institute, located in the Berkshires of western Massachusetts, is one of a small number of institutions globally that is both an art museum and a center for research, critical discussion, and higher education in the visual arts. The Clark is located at 225 South Street in Williamstown, Massachusetts. Galleries are open Tuesday through Sunday, 10 am to 5 pm. Admission is $20; free year-round for Clark members, children 18 and younger, and students with valid ID.
