CLARK ART INSTITUTE TO HOST WIKIPEDIA ‘EDIT-A-THON’

Williamstown, Massachusetts—Bring your laptop, power cord, and ideas for Wikipedia entries that need updating or creation at the Clark Art Institute’s Wikipedia “Edit-a-Thon” on Sunday, March 4 from 11 am–4 pm. The event is inspired by the hundreds of edit-a-thons hosted by the New York-based organization Art+Feminism over the past four years in museums and libraries around the world, Members of the public are invited to join art historians and fellow art-lovers for an all-day communal updating of Wikipedia entries on art and feminism—including more than fifty women artists in the Clark’s permanent collection. Throughout the day, instructors provide tutorials for beginner Wikipedians, as well as reference materials and encouragement. Training sessions are scheduled for 11:30 am, 1 pm, and 2:30 pm.

ABOUT THE CLARK

The Clark Art Institute, located in the Berkshires of western Massachusetts, is one of a small number of institutions globally that is both an art museum and a center for research, critical discussion, and higher education in the visual arts. Opened in 1955, the Clark houses exceptional European and American paintings and sculpture, extensive collections of master prints and drawings, English silver, and early photography. The Clark is located at 225 South Street in Williamstown, Massachusetts. Galleries are open Tuesday through Sunday, 10 am to 5 pm. Admission is $20; free year-round for Clark members, children 18 and younger, and students with valid ID.
