WEEKLY YOGA CLASSES AND MORNING GALLERY TALKS SCHEDULED AT CLARK ART INSTITUTE

Williamstown, Massachusetts—Reflect and refocus with weekly yoga classes and morning gallery talks at the Clark Art Institute. Beginning Tuesday, July 10 at 9 am, Devin Kibbe of North Adams Yoga teaches the free “Yoga on the Terrace” series of classes, followed by “Reflections: An Introspective Gallery Experience” talks at 10:30 am. “Yoga on the Terrace” is held on the Clark’s Fernández Terrace, overlooking the reflecting pools. Featuring traditional and inspired yoga poses well-suited for both experienced yogis and newcomers, the class explores strengthening poses and mobility exercises. Best suited for ages 12 and up. Please dress in comfortable clothing that does not restrict movement and bring a yoga mat.

“Reflections” talks are introspective gallery experiences that challenge visitors to look both within and without—engaging with art through the lens of shared human values. With a contemplative tone that encourages thoughtful investigation and audience participation, groups explore one or two works from the permanent collection with the help of a museum educator. Set apart from a conventional gallery talk, “Reflections” provides an opportunity for close looking by focusing attention on a small number of artworks over an extended period of time.

“Yoga on the Terrace” and “Reflections” occur each Tuesday through August 28. In the event of rain, yoga classes will be canceled.

ABOUT THE CLARK

The Clark Art Institute, located in the Berkshires of western Massachusetts, is one of a small number of institutions globally that is both an art museum and a center for research, critical discussion, and higher education in the visual arts. Opened in 1955, the Clark houses exceptional European and American paintings and sculpture, extensive collections of master prints and drawings, English silver, and early photography. The Clark, which has a three-star rating in the Michelin Green Guide, is located at 225 South Street in Williamstown, Massachusetts. Galleries are open Tuesday through Sunday, 10 am to 5 pm. Admission is $20; free year-round for Clark members, children 18 and younger, and students with valid ID.
