FREE ADMISSION, ACTIVITIES AT CLARK ART INSTITUTE ON ‘FIRST SUNDAY FREE’

Williamstown, Massachusetts—The Clark Art Institute continues its “First Sundays Free” program on Sunday, February 3. Admission to the galleries is free all day (10 am–5 pm), and free activities for the whole family will be held from 1–4 pm.

This month’s session, “Fresh Takes,” offers a day of new perspectives, introspection, and inspiration. Spend some “me time” in the galleries, unplug by leaving your cell phone with a courtesy phone check, and pick up a self-guide designed for personal reflection. In the Michael Conforti Pavilion, decorate a chalkboard to help you stay organized and face the rest of the year with a clean slate, then write a motivational letter to your future self to be mailed by the Clark in six months. Try your hand at “Caption This” in the Museum Pavilion to give new voice to an iconic Clark image, and visit the Manton Study Center for Works on Paper for a pop-up exhibition featuring recent acquisitions.

All activities and admission to the galleries are free as part of the Clark’s First Sundays Free program, supported by funding from the officers and employees of Allen & Company, Inc.

ABOUT THE CLARK

The Clark Art Institute, located in the Berkshires of western Massachusetts, is one of a small number of institutions globally that is both an art museum and a center for research, critical discussion, and higher education in the visual arts. Opened in 1955, the Clark houses exceptional European and American paintings and sculpture, extensive collections of master prints and drawings, English silver, and early photography. Acting as convener through its Research and Academic Program, the Clark gathers an international community of scholars to participate in a lively program of conferences, colloquia, and workshops on topics of vital importance to the visual arts. The Clark, which has a three-star rating in the Michelin Green Guide, is located at 225 South Street in Williamstown, Massachusetts. Galleries are open Tuesday through Sunday, 10 am to 5 pm; open daily in July and August. Admission is $20; free year-round for Clark members, children 18 and younger, and students with valid ID. Free admission is available through several programs, including First Sundays Free; a local library pass program; EBT Card to Culture; and Blue Star Museums.
