CLARK ART INSTITUTE OFFERS FREE ADMISSION AND SPECIAL HANDS-ON PROGRAMS ON DECEMBER 1 FOR FIRST SUNDAYS FREE PROGRAM

Williamstown, Massachusetts—On Sunday, December 1, admission to the Clark Art Institute galleries is free all day as part of the First Sundays Free program. Visitors can get hands-on experience with the creative techniques used by artists like Auguste Rodin, Albrecht Dürer, and Pierre-Auguste Renoir through family-friendly activities throughout the museum:

• Carve, print, or paint your own original work of art
• Tour the galleries and hear from a member of the Clark’s curatorial team as they talk about how they care for the collection and answer your questions
• Explore the specialized tools and techniques for creating etchings, engravings, lithographs, and woodcuts through a pop-up display of prints at the Manton Study Center for Works on Paper from 11 am to 3 pm

Also on this day, enjoy a discount at the Clark’s Museum Store. For the third consecutive year, the Clark joins more than 1,200 museums around the world by offering a twenty-five percent discount on all shopping during Museum Store Sunday. This annual initiative started by the Museum Store Association encourages consumers to support museums and their missions by shopping at museum stores.

ABOUT THE CLARK

The Clark Art Institute, located in the Berkshires of western Massachusetts, is one of a small number of institutions internationally that is both an art museum and a center for research, critical discussion, and higher education in the visual arts. Opened in 1955, the Clark houses exceptional European and American paintings and sculpture, extensive collections of master prints and drawings, English silver, and early photography. Galleries are open Tuesday through Sunday, 10 am to 5 pm; open daily in July and August. Admission is $20; free year-round for Clark members, children 18 and younger, and students with valid ID.
