CLARK ART INSTITUTE PRESENTS FREE FILM SCREENING OF HOW ARE YOU

Williamstown, Massachusetts—The Clark Art Institute presents a free screening of the documentary How Are You (Denmark, 2011) on Friday, October 11, at 5:30 pm in the Clark’s auditorium.

Shown in conjunction with the Clark’s special exhibition Art’s Biggest Stage: Collecting the Venice Biennale, 2007–2019, How Are You documents the life and work of artist-couple Michael Elmgreen and Ingar Dragset. The film traces the first fourteen years of the pair’s collaboration, culminating with their work for the Danish and Nordic pavilions at the 2009 Venice Biennale, which features prominently in the Clark’s exhibition. Robert Wiesenberger, the Clark's associate curator of contemporary projects, introduces the film. Run time is 58 minutes.

Since 2007, the Clark’s library has built an unparalleled collection of editioned works of art, books, posters, publicity materials, and other objects produced for the recurring extravaganza. Art’s Biggest Stage showcases this growing archive and explores the questions of identity, nationhood, and spectacle central to the Biennale. The exhibition is open in the Lunder Center at Stone Hill through Monday, October 14.

The Clark Art Institute, located in the Berkshires of western Massachusetts, is one of a small number of institutions globally that is both an art museum and a center for research, critical discussion, and higher education in the visual arts.
