CLARK ART INSTITUTE AIRS THE MET: LIVE IN HD PRODUCTION OF TURANDOT

Williamstown, Massachusetts—Franco Zeffirelli’s production of Puccini’s final opera, Turandot, airs at the Clark Art Institute Saturday, October 12, at 12:55 pm. Now in its fourteenth season, The Met: Live in HD is the Metropolitan Opera’s award-winning series of live high-definition cinema simulcasts. Broadcasts feature the full performance along with backstage interviews and commentary.
Set in mythic China, Turandot tells the story of a princess who demands that her suitors solve three riddles or forfeit their lives. Powerhouse soprano Christine Goerke takes on the icy title princess, alongside tenor Yusif Eyvazov as the mysterious prince vying for her love. Soprano Eleanora Buratto (Liù) and bass-baritone James Morris (Timur) also star. Yannick Nézet-Séguin, the Met’s Jeanette Lerman-Neubauer Music Director, conducts his first Puccini opera with the company. Run time is 3 hours, 2 minutes.

ABOUT THE CLARK
The Clark Art Institute, located in the Berkshires of western Massachusetts, is one of a small number of institutions globally that is both an art museum and a center for research, critical discussion, and higher education in the visual arts. Galleries are open Tuesday through Sunday, 10 am to 5 pm; open daily in July and August. Admission is $20; free year-round for Clark members, children 18 and younger, and students with valid ID.
