CLARK ART INSTITUTE AIRS THE MET: LIVE IN HD PRODUCTION OF FEDORA 

Williamstown, Massachusetts—The Metropolitan Opera’s broadcast production of Fedora airs at the Clark Art Institute on Saturday, January 14 at 12:55 pm in the fourth installment of the 2022–23 season of The Met: Live in HD. The award-winning series of live, high-definition cinema simulcasts features the full live performance along with backstage interviews and commentary. The Clark broadcasts the opera in its auditorium, located in the Manton Research Center.

Umberto Giordano’s drama returns to the Metropolitan Opera for the first time in twenty-five years. The new production stars soprano Sonya Yoncheva in the title role of the nineteenth-century Russian princess who falls in love with her fiancé’s murderer, Count Loris, sung by star tenor Piotr Beczała. Soprano Rosa Feola is the Countess Olga, Fedora’s confidante, and baritone Artur Ruciński is the diplomat De Siriex, with much-loved Met maestro Marco Armiliato conducting. Director David McVicar delivers a detailed and dramatic staging based around an ingenious fixed set.

ABOUT THE CLARK
The Clark Art Institute, located in the Berkshires of western Massachusetts, is one of a small number of institutions globally that is both an art museum and a center for research, critical discussion, and higher education in the visual arts. Galleries are open 10 am to 5 pm Tuesday through Sunday, from September through June, and daily in July and August. Admission is free January through March and is $20 from March through December; admission is free year-round for Clark members, all visitors age 21 and under, and students with a valid student ID.
