50 Years and Forward: Works on Paper Acquisitions marks the fiftieth anniversary of the Manton Research Center—the home of the works on paper collection—with a selection of prints, drawings, and photographs acquired between 1973 and 2023. Featuring recent acquisitions and other works never shown here before, the exhibition starts from classic territories with which the Clark has long been closely identified—such as early modern drawings and nineteenth-century French art—and shows how those pockets of strength continued to grow in later decades.
While visiting, museumgoers are encouraged to stop by the Clark’s postcard station on the lower level of the Museum Building. Create a unique postcard to send to a friend, drop it in the Clark’s post box, and the Clark will stamp and mail it! Then, take advantage of the Clark’s popular Project Snowshoe program and borrow snowshoes to explore the beauty of the campus in winter. Snowshoes are available in adult and children’s sizes on a first-come, first-served basis.
Admission to the Clark is free through March 2024. All February School Vacation Week activities are free. Advance registration required for the printmaking workshops offered on February 23 at 1 and 2 pm. For more information and to register, visit clarkart.edu/events.
50 Years and Forward: Works on Paper Acquisitions is organized by the Clark Art Institute and curated by Anne Leonard, Manton Curator of Prints, Drawings, and Photographs.
ABOUT THE CLARK
