Published in 2023 in celebration of the Manton Research Center and fifty years of innovative architecture, the library, and graduate study at the Clark, this volume is a reflection on the history of the Manton building and commemorates its library as well as the Williams Graduate Program in the History of Art.
Michael J. Lewis teaches modern architecture and American art at Williams College and is the architecture critic for the Wall Street Journal.
Susan Roeper is director emeritus of the Clark Art Institute Library, having served in a variety of positions since 1982, most recently as director from 1996 to 2022.
Michael Edward Shapiro was a member of the third class (1976) of the Williams Graduate Program in the History of Art, offered in collaboration with the Clark Art Institute, and is currently senior advisor for museums and private collections for Hindman Auctions.
