Cream Jug

1789/90

Bateman inherited her husband’s silversmithing tools after his death in 1760 and continued the family business with her sons for the next thirty years. Together they produced items like this cream jug, with its distinctive octagonal faceting, engraved decoration, and contemporary, interlaced monogram.
