In this three-part series, curator Alexis Goodin highlights the important work of women artist-activists over time.

In the opening talk of the series, Goodin explores women’s opportunities for studying art in London in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. She focuses on art schools established by women painters including Louise Jopling and Lucy Kemp-Welch, as well as instructor roles taken by Sylva Gosse and Eleanor Fortescue-Brickdale in other schools. Collectively, these artists’ efforts helped make careers in art more possible for other women. A buffet breakfast follows the program.
