Ignacio Cano
Museo de Belles Artes, Seville
May–May 2001
Ignacio Cano, curator at the Museo de Bellas Artes, has written on the Spanish artists Velázquez and Zurbarán, publishing Don Cristóbal Suárez de Ribera for the Bellas Artes. Cano spent a month at the Clark studying the fate of Sevillian collections in the period from the Napoleonic Wars through the secularization of Spanish churches in the nineteenth century in order to see how that history engages issues of repatriation and Spanish national consciousness.
