Bruce Redford (Clark/Oakley Humanities Fellow) holds a joint appointment in the Department of History of Art and Architecture and the Department of English at Boston University. His areas of particular interest include the visual and literary culture of Enlightenment Europe and the history of the classical tradition. His publications include Venice and the Grand Tour (1996), Designing the Life of Johnson (2002), and Dilettanti: The Antic and the Antique in Eighteenth-Century England (2008). At the Clark he will be working on a cultural history of the Anglo-American swagger portrait.
