Maria Gough

University of Michigan

July–December 2001

Maria Gough is assistant professor of art history at the University of Michigan. At the Clark, Gough will complete the manuscript of her first book, an analytical and interpretive narrative of the emergence and development of Russian Constructivism in Moscow between the years 1918 and 1926. She is investigating the specific ways in which artists, in the wake of the October Revolution of 1917, grappled with the role of the avant-garde under socialism.
