CATALOGUE
Winslow Homer: The Clark Collection, authored by Marc Simpson, examines Sterling Clark’s passion for creating what is now the greatest collection of works by Winslow Homer (American, 1836–1910) assembled by one person since the artist’s death.
More than thirty entries in the catalogue detail individual works in Homer’s oeuvre, while an illustrated checklist provides titles, dates, and media for the complete works in the Clark’s collection.
Marc Simpson is associate director of the Williams College graduate program in the history of art and an expert on nineteenth-century American art. He is the curator of the Clark’s 2013 exhibition Winslow Homer: Making Art, Making History.
